Required Qualifications: High School Diploma (or GED) Minimum of two (2) years experience related to building maintenance or construction At least six (6) months experience coordinating the work of others Proven initiative (recognizing and doing what needs to be done before being asked to do it) Demonstrated project coordination success Basic computer keyboarding experience Must possess a State recognized license (if from a different state, obtain New Mexico recognized license within 12 months of hire) Must have a valid Driver's License Must be dependable, trustworthy, enthusiastic, polite, and thorough Must be willing and able to learn and share knowledge with others Able to keep accurate and legible records Microsoft Word and Excel skills Knowledge and ability to inspire others in the performance of their duties Able to coordinate multiple tasks, and meet scheduled/project commitments Good human relations skills coupled with the ability to work with hospital staff and people from outside the organization The ability to work under pressure Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of healthcare environments would be helpful for this position Mechanical as well customer service knowledge Additional mechanical and electrical training (especially success in formal Technical/Vocational training) The ability to use electrical meters to check voltage and amp readings for connected loads Duties and Responsibilities: The ability to use electrical meters to check voltage and amp readings for connected loads Under general supervision, coordinate a crew of several other trades to perform a variety of tasks and projects with respect to facilities engineering The ability to use electrical meters to check voltage and amp readings for connected loads Assist the Department Manager/Assistant Manager or Supervisor with project coordination, procurement, inventory assistance, gathering information, reporting, and running errands when requested The ability to use electrical meters to check voltage and amp readings for connected loads Inspect equipment, facilities, and work completed for proper operation and working condition The ability to use electrical meters to check voltage and amp readings for connected loads Keep a neat personal appearance The ability to use electrical meters to check voltage and amp readings for connected loads Maintain an organized work area, and clean up periodically as tasks progress, and upon completion The ability to use electrical meters to check voltage and amp readings for connected loads Make repairs to walls, patch holes, hang and remove items, paint, texture and repair drywall (sheet rock), etc. Maintain routine records and determine type and extent of malfunctioning equipment, and as necessary adjust, disassemble, repair or replace parts, components, reassemble and test for proper operation Report more serious problems to Supervisor or Management for instructions and/or maintenance scheduling Tend gas fired steam boilers, hot water boilers and heaters. Make necessary adjustments to ensure proper steam pressure, combustion, water flow, water level, operation of safety devices and auxiliary equipment Test boiler water, condensate from various designated sources and make necessary chemical changes/adjustments based on test results Service and make repairs to heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, including; fans, motors, coils, thermostats, dampers and regulating controls Clean and lubricate fan coil units, motors and other machinery Replace filters, belts, hoses, and fluids as necessary and maintain adequate records of such repairs Maintain, repair, and make alterations to steam, water, pneumatic, as well as sanitary plumbing pipelines, fixtures, and components Perform general welding, cutting, and joining of metals not requiring critical test tolerance or certification Conduct general mechanical maintenance duties such as monitor, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair various building assemblies Maintain lighting fixtures (e.g., bulbs and ballasts) Clean sink and grease traps, replace and repack valves, assemble equipment and other related items Make minor repairs on hospital beds, television sets and other patient related items, that pertain to the Engineering department Move supplies, furniture, equipment, properly dispose of trash and scrap materials Learn and abide by other applicable SJRMC/Department policies and procedures Learn and apply proper procedures and respond accordingly when working with, disarming / re-arming, and diagnosing the messages and trouble lights for the fire alarm system Learn proper start-up, testing, running and shut down procedures along with preventive and general maintenance on the fire pump and emergency generator, such as; oil changes, battery checks / changes, proper gauge readings, etc. Maintain required competencies: HIPAA; safety; infection control; Healthstream on-line courses; and various other necessary education (e.g., attend in-service training sessions) Exercise proper safety practices before and throughout the execution of all duties Be alert for unsafe conditions, and items needing Plant Engineering attention. Correct the situation yourself or report it to the Engineering Supervisor or Production Control. Also, follow-up by recording the corrective action on your Daily Log Sheet or verify that a work order was issued. Report and follow-up to ensure needed equipment, materials and supplies get ordered Complete documentation on status of work (for tasks requiring more than one day) Complete records to accurately and thoroughly document all work performed Perform all other duties as may be assigned Be committed to the concept of continuous improvement in all aspects of job duties Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship Other duties as assigned Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions: Typical work includes a lot of walking, standing, stooping, climbing, crawling, pushing, pulling, twisting, and lifting (up to 50 pounds) May be required to work in sterile and mechanical areas (with moving machinery, noise, and heat) May be required to wear personal protective equipment Normal eyesight, hearing, and manual dexterity with both hands are necessary for safety purposes Must be able to concentrate, pay attention, yet remain alert to surrounding dangers As you go about fulfilling this mission, your work habits and work relationships should embody SJRMC's values.
