Working under minimal supervision: develop part geometries, design assemblies, and generate drawings and DXF programs for food handling products and custom serving lines utilizing Solid Edge 3D CAD and AutoCAD software; address and resolve design and engineering issues that arise during production, installation, or operation to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction; maintain all design documentation, including drawings and specifications, and ensure they are up-to-date and accurately reflect any modifications made throughout the project lifecycle; conduct research and development of food service equipment (refrigeration, heating elements, etc.); and ensure structural design integrity by performing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDandT) analysis, utilizing Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles for design optimization and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for comprehensive structural analysis, and conducting detailed root cause analysis.Additional duties include: manage projects from submittal through field installation, including coordinating design approvals, overseeing fabrication, and ensuring successful implementation on-site; facilitate communication between customers and contractors to effectively address product design specifications, oversee installation processes, and resolve field-related issues; conduct initial field visits to client locations to assess existing equipment, electrical, and plumbing details, and incorporate these findings into the design to ensure a seamless installation of new products; create Bills of Materials (BOM) and identify long lead items for purchasing to ensure project deadlines are met; design and refine frames for the custom serving lines, ensuring precise fit and functionality within the overall assembly; calculate cooling requirements of unit to determine the optimal compressor size for cold pans and refrigerators, ensuring efficient cooling performance and proper system operation; coordinate with the MEP team to determine electrical requirements and develop accurate electrical drawings for food bars, ensuring optimal power distribution and system reliability; ensure all designs and installations meet industry standards and regulatory requirements for food safety, including NSF standards, and electrical safety, adhering to UL certifications and other relevant codes; and perform follow-up site inspections to monitor the progress of installations, verify compliance with design specifications, and provide on-site technical support.Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and 3 years of related experience, or alternatively, a Masters degree in same and 1 year of related experience. Experience must include the design and development of food handling equipment or similar machinery using Solid Edge 3D CAD and Auto CAD software, and the research and development (RandD) of food service equipment, as well as using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDandT) analysis for structural design, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles for design optimization, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for in-depth structural analysis, and performing root cause analysis.
