You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, Newport, RI Facilities Management & Sustainment Product Line of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Interpreting instructions, sketches, blueprints, codes and specifications; 2) Leading three to ten workers assigned to accomplish facilities maintenance projects; 3) Performing repairs or constructs a variety of brick, block, and stone structures and surfaces such as foundations, columns, wall, steps, and manholes using materials such as common and face brick, firebrick, stone, slate, cement and concrete block; 4) Constructing or repairing wood items such as cabinets, furniture and counters; 5) Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment; 6) Installing and making repairs on large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating; and 7) Planning and laying out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of various piping systems and equipment.
