Design Engineer (CAD-CAM / Microvellum)

The Role: Design Engineer
Were looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented Design Engineer with a passion for digital fabrication and millwork design. Youll work closely with our Lead Designer and production team to develop shop drawings, refine our Microvellum library, and help streamline drafting and CNC processes.
This role is ideal for someone technically curious, process-minded, and excited about working at the intersection of design, data, and fabrication. Whether you're early in your career or looking to grow into a more advanced role, were looking for someone whos ready to learn and contribute.
What Youll Do:
1) Shop Drawings & Submittals
-Create and revise detailed shop drawings in AutoCAD
-Assist with submittals and document design updates
-Follow directions and redlines with precision
2) Microvellum & Library Support
-Learn the structure of Microvellum and help build the parametric library
-Assist with setting up AutoCAD blocks and Microvellum products
-Support clean data management for part naming, token rules, and CNC output
3) CNC + Data Integration
-Understand how design data flows to production
-Assist in generating clean G-code and nesting files for CNC
4) Process & Collaboration
-Participate in peer reviews and collaborative design sessions
-Help document process improvements and contribute to internal standards
-Work closely with the Lead Designer to improve and expand internal systems
Who You Are:
1) Must-Haves
-Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD platforms
-Comfortable using Excel or database-like tools (formulas, tables, data logic)
-Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn Microvellum
-Detail-oriented, with an understanding of how design impacts fabrication
-Follows instructions well and is open to feedback
-Eager to understand CNC basics and G-code
-Communicative, team-oriented, and organized
2) Nice-to-Haves
-Familiarity with Microvellum, parametric modeling, or CAM
-Experience in millwork, cabinetry, or a shop environment
-Understanding of design-for-manufacturing principles
3)Requirements
-Degree or equivalent experience in Architecture, Engineering, Industrial Design, Construction, or related field preferred
-Located on Maui or willing to relocate
-Full-time availability
