The Honeywell Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Mechanical Design Engineering team designs and manufactures specialized Coil Wound Heat Exchangers and other natural gas liquefaction equipment. The equipment is designed by our engineering organization and fabricated at our manufacturing facility in Port Manatee, FL, or other domestic and international third-party facilities. Our customers use this equipment to liquefy extracted natural gas, significantly enhancing its transportability as an energy source to end users around the world.
This role will focus on the creation and modification of 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials to support a complex and dynamic LNG equipment business. Through collaboration with multiple engineering functions and manufacturing sites, the design team is responsible for designing and communicating the manufacturing details required to successfully build our state-of-the-art coil wound heat exchanger technology, cold boxes, modules, and other equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for building detailed and accurate 3D models and drawings of product components and assemblies as assigned by other designers or engineers. Drawings are created according to established Honeywell drafting practices, with an emphasis on design for safety as well as manufacturability.
- Support material management and procurement activities by creating accurate and timely bills of material in the SAP MRP system.
- Ensure that MDE design and drawing deliverables are clear and well understood by the Port Manatee facility and other manufacturing sites.
- Liaise with manufacturing personnel on matters related to design issues or production variations.
- Participate in plant visits occasionally and international field repair trips, as assigned.
- Participate in and lead model, safety, and drawing reviews to ensure compliance with engineering requirements, customer specifications, and established fabrication methods.
Must Have:
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Design Technology/Drafting and 5+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
We Value:
- Experience with the design and fabrication of ASME pressure vessels and B31.3 process piping design practices. Experience with the design and modeling of structural systems, controls, valving, and other industrial gas system components is a plus.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems; SolidWorks or similar. MicroStation & SmartPlant experience are advantageous.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including welding and materials of construction.
- Design for manufacturing with a strong focus on safety.
- Attention to detail.
- Familiarity with MRP systems such as SAP or similar.
- Knowledge of Electronic Document Management Systems; SolidWorks PDM or equivalent.
- Team-oriented individuals capable of working productively in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision. Strong organizational, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools.
