Job Description:
The Clinical Risk and Safety Manager at Intermountain Health will oversee clinical risk management and patient safety services across community clinics, hospitals, specialties, and home services. This role involves identifying and addressing clinical concerns that may lead to patient harm, facilitating early investigations, and supporting process improvements related to safety events. The Clinical Risk Manager will foster a culture of high reliability and performance improvement, focusing on delivering exceptional outcomes, ensuring no harm to patients and caregivers, and promoting relationship-centered care grounded in empathy and collaboration. Essential Functions
- Design and implement a forward-thinking patient safety agenda that promotes caregiver engagement and inter-professional collaboration, establishing Intermountain Health as a national leader in high reliability.
- Provide expert consultation and educational support to clinical and administrative leaders, ensuring a continuous focus on patient safety initiatives across the organization.
- Skillfully identify and evaluate patient safety risks within clinical processes. Lead investigations and collaborate with operational teams to implement effective interventions, ensuring long-term sustainability.
- Manage serious safety events by classifying incidents, conducting thorough analyses, and preparing necessary documentation.
- Facilitate early communication and disclosure processes for patients involved in clinical errors, coordinating with Claims and Legal to determine appropriate measures.
- Deliver high-quality education and training on safety and clinical risk management principles to department leaders and caregivers, aligning with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to drive clinical process improvements based on insights gained from event management and risk assessments.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of clinical processes and ability to identify gaps in practice standards
- Functions well in difficult situations including conflict resolution in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to teach and train peers and colleagues.
- Demonstrated competence in solving problems and liaising between multiple stakeholders
- Proficient in use of software such as Word and Excel in order to generate documents and data reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex health system (hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of health care regulations and legal protections related to patient safety work product or quality improvement activities
- Ability to analyze data to identify and prioritize improvement work
