The Painter performs skilled painting related projects and tasks in areas including, but not necessarily limited to, new construction, outdoor structures, interior facilities and company owned equipment. Applies mediums including, but not necessarily limited to paint, primers, stains, sealers and varnishes. Operates company vehicles; and performs other related duties as assigned. May lead and train other personnel when assigned. Work is performed independently under direction of higher-level supervisory personnel.
Essential Functions:
Scrapes, sands, and otherwise prepares surfaces, applies stains and primers, intermediate and finished coats of shellac, varnish, and paint with brush, roller, spray gun, or other application process.
Paints a variety of interior and exterior surfaces of buildings such as walls, ceilings, doors, window trim, baseboards, handrails, flag poles, etc.
Uses ladders, scaffolds, and bucket trucks to reach surfaces to be painted as required.
Protects surrounding areas or objects by properly taping and covering to avoid painting unwanted areas or spills; moves furniture and other objects and takes down and replaces blinds to facilitate work.
Ensures proper maintenance logs and work reports indicating time and materials used.
Demonstrates responsible use and care for equipment, vehicles, tools, and other materials.
Operates assigned vehicle and various hand-held manual, electrical, and gas powered tools and equipment, i.e., mixers, sprayers, rollers, caulking guns, scrapers, sand blasters, pressure washers, and sets up scaffolding as needed.
Works independently with little supervision in the completion of assignments.
Plans, schedules, and sees jobs through to completion.

Communicates politely and effectively with, and in front of, customers.
Works as part of a team with supervisors and co-workers.
Demonstrates knowledge of painting process using standard tools, machinery, and equipment.
Demonstrates writing skills with a focus on technical accuracy, writing quality and clarity are also required.
Uses and applies appropriate safety practices and procedures in the performance of duties, including fall protection.
Requisitions and/or purchases supplies and materials, while maintaining various activity records and logs.
Complies with all applicable state, federal, and local laws related to the removal and/or application of paint.
Regular attendance.
Travel and work overtime as required.
Other Functions:
Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Supports and helps other painters and maintenance employees as requested.
Assists on special projects as needed.
Ensures that Company tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in proper working condition.
Mental and Physical Demands:
The principle duties of this position are performed in a variety of environments, including customer homes, the outdoors, and field environments at development
and work sites on uneven and rough terrain.
Required to work in outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, and temperature swings, for extended periods of time.
Experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet inflexible deadlines; requires concentration and attention to detail; requires a high level of organizational
and prioritization skills.
Standing up to 8 hours per day; Walking up to 8 hours per day on uneven, difficult terrain.
Regular heavy manual labor to include lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds.
Regular and repetitive grasping, gripping, reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and working overhead.
Frequently works in closed or cramped spaces.
Climbs ladders and completes overhead work for assignments.
Ability to read and understand product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets.

One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the commercial painting trade.
Knowledge of basic painting techniques using standard tools, spray equipment and machinery.
Use and application of safety practices and procedures including fall protection adherence.
Candidate must have excellent eye for detail and interpersonal skills.
Self motivated, punctual, detail oriented and able to work independently.
Current California Drivers License with excellent driving history.
