Journeyman Electrician Job Description This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within a building. Key tasks include wiring, installation, circuit design, fixture placement, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with building codes. The position often involves working with complex three-phase power systems and collaborating with other professionals. Responsibilities Install electrical wiring, circuits, lighting fixtures, power outlets, and other electrical components according to blueprints and specifications. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, including testing circuit breakers, transformers, and generators to identify potential issues. Diagnose and fix electrical faults, including malfunctioning wiring, faulty fixtures, and electrical equipment. Update outdated electrical systems with new technology or to meet current safety standards. Ensure all electrical work adheres to local building codes and safety regulations. Collaborate with other tradespeople such as plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other personnel. Maintain detailed records of work completed, including materials used and project details. Essential Skills Proficiency in electrical, conduit, and wiring installation. Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and perform repairs. Competence in pulling wire, conduit bending, and running conduit. Experience with electrical wiring, schematic, panel wiring, and blueprint reading. Knowledge of switchgear, lighting, mechanical systems, and hand tool usage. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with system upgrades and ensuring code compliance.
