SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure employee safety remains in the forefront of all capital purchases and or business decisions.
- Regulatory compliance across all aspects of Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities.
- Motivate employees to embrace Shea safety culture and program.
- Empower teams and provide guidance to team so they can effectively execute safety program at the site level.
- Audit projects to ensure teams are aligned with safety vision and requirements.
- Create, maintain and implement a comprehensive safety training plan.
- Conduct regular checks on required employee safety training and assist in finding resources when external trainings are needed.
- Assuring compliance with required OSHA record keeping requirements, verifying and expediting OSHA citation abatements.
- Provide for visible involvement in the safety program through participation in committees and safety-related activities.
- Conduct hazard assessment to determine the potential for injury and illness to employees.
- Provide the leadership, technical knowledge, managerial and administrative skills required for the direction, leadership, and training of all SHALC personnel with respect to Safety.
- Act as final authority on any disputed safety requirements, OSHA requirements (Mediation between safety and construction).
- Maintain and update SHALC safety manual documents.
- Analyze all injury reports for all Trades to identify areas needing improvement.
- Energize or reinforce Trades' safety program as appropriate, based on daily observations
- Submit monthly loss control performance reports to SHALC Vice President of Operations and SHALC President
- Represent SHALC on interdivisional safety council.
- All other associated duties as outlined by SHALC Vice President of Operations.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes Division Compliance Officer (DCO) role, and responsibilities, as defined in Shea's Environmental Compliance Manual (ECM) for the entire SHALC division.
- Performs / Reports Quarterly Site Inspection Reports (D-SIR), under the direction of the Director, for all SHALC Land Development and Operations teams.
- Conduct an initial environmental assessment for all new projects.
- Assist in initial design of site specific SWPPP's (narrative and exhibits) to ensure compliance with Environmental Permits and Shea's ECM.
- Standardizes SWPPP Best Management Practices to the extent practical.
- Monitor projects for changes that will affect existing permits and or environmental compliance.
- Monitor environmental rulemaking that impacts SHALC.
- Adjust existing program when new rulemaking occurs.
- Assist teams in identifying training needs (employee and trades) and be their first stop for training resources.
- Represent SHALC on interdivisional SWPPP team(s) / initiatives.
- Provide for visible involvement in the SWPPP program through participation in committees and SWPPP-related activities.
- Provide the leadership, technical knowledge, managerial and administrative skills required for the direction, leadership, and training of all SHALC personnel with respect to SWPPPs.
- Contributes toward continuous SWPPP Improvement.
- All other associated duties as outlined by SHALC VP of Operations
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of program management
- Proficiency in MS suite of applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Applicant must provide certifications, credentials and or work experience establishing they are knowledgeable in StormWater Management, Dust Control, Best Management Practices and Permitting.
- Applicant must provide certifications, credentials and or work experience establishing they are knowledgeable in Construction Safety and OSHA rules.
- Additional safety or StormWater certifications a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat a plus
