Job's mission

Join ASM America as an SP&R Technician - Mechanical and Build Focus and be part of building the future of semiconductor innovation-literally. You'll work hands-on with first-of-its-kind tools, assembling and troubleshooting advanced systems that power next-gen technologies. If you're mechanically inclined, curious, and excited to grow your skills on the manufacturing floor, this is your launchpad.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test first-of-a-kind (FOAK) semiconductor tools and sub-systems, focusing on mechanical components.

  • Build and maintain ALD systems such as Pulsar XP, ensuring mechanical integrity and design alignment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on lab tools and identify mechanical wear to meet zero-defect goals.

  • Troubleshoot build issues and collaborate with engineers to resolve challenges in real-time.

  • Recommend process improvements to streamline assembly and support cost and efficiency targets.

  • Operate in a lab environment following 6S and safety protocols, with the flexibility to shift priorities.

  • Communicate mechanical build needs (e.g., torque specs, tolerances) clearly with engineers.

  • Adapt to changing timelines and tasks, occasionally supporting evening or weekend work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, or a related field.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with engineers and cross-functional teams.

  • A positive, adaptable mindset in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

  • Committed to strict safety and cleanroom protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical training or coursework in mechanical disciplines (e.g., machining, HVAC, automotive repair).

  • Hands-on project experience or hobbies in mechanical work (e.g., car mods, woodworking, home repairs).

  • Familiarity with mechanical systems including fasteners, pneumatics, or alignment tools.

  • Recent graduates with degrees in Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering are encouraged to apply.

  • Recent graduates with degrees in Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related fields who wish to start their career on the manufacturing floor-gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, bills of materials, and quality before transitioning to an engineering role-are encouraged to apply.
