Repairs, dismantles, assembles, installs, and performs preventive maintenance on production machinery and equipment to include hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, electrical equipment, and programmable logic controllers by performing the following duties.

7 a.m. - 3 p.m.- however, must be flexible depending on business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary

Diagnoses malfunctions in machinery and equipment.

Repairs/rebuilds various plant and process equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and other related equipment.

Repairs/rebuilds/replaces hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and understands flow controls.

Starts, stops, adjusts, and troubleshoots the ammonia system

Understands and troubleshoots Programmable Logic Controllers (Nomenclature, input, output, etc.)

Operates forklifts and aerial platforms.

Performs required Preventative Maintenance on plant and process equipment.

Drills, files, grinds, and cuts various materials using hand and/or power tools.

Saws various metals using chop or band saws.

Welds various metals using wire feed, stick, or TIG.

Performs electrical troubleshooting on various plant and process equipment including amp and voltage readings, testing fuses, and understanding electrical prints.

Starts, stops, adjusts, and troubleshoots the ammonia system.

Possesses a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

Repairs, inspects, replaces door systems to include closures, strikes, fire doors, overhead doors, roll-up doors, and mandoors.

Plumbing to include repairing/replacing fixtures, clearing clogs, piping, and repairing water heaters.

Works with co-workers and supervisor to resolve maintenance problems.

Works weekends and holidays as needed to complete job duties.

Keeps work area and tools clean and organized.

Employees are responsible for understanding and complying with the Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety guidelines to ensure that quality food products are manufactured in a sanitary production environment and delivered with superior protection to our customers and consumers.

Supports Saputos commitment to preserve the environment by following all established policies and procedures related to such preservation. Reports any identified concerns regarding potential hazards to the environment.

Other Duties

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Repairs and performs preventative maintenance on forklifts and platforms.

Repairs/replaces light fixtures and bulbs.

Performs building maintenance to include siding, painting, ceramic tile, rubber roof, ceiling tiles, snow shoveling, moving barricades, installing guard posts and moving equipment.

Water softener maintenance and testing.

Repairs security system and monitoring equipment.

Overtime as required.

Performs all other duties as assigned. (However some may become primary)

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six or more years of related experience and/or training.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively managers, plant employees and vendors.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization may or may not exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheet software, and Manufacturing software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and outdoor weather condition. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather), work with explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk more than 2/3 of each hour during a shift. The employee will reach and grasp more than 200 times per shift. The employee is required to bend, twist, squat, kneel, reach, push, and pull 33-200 times per shift. The employee is required to lift up to 50 pounds or more with assistance as needed. The employee will sit, drive, and operate foot controls up to 1/3 of each hour during a shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
