Electrical Engineer

We're looking for contract Electrical Engineers to join our growing electrical testing client. This role merges deep technical electrical design expertise with project leadership and mentoring responsibilities.

The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of industrial and utility projects, solving complex power system problems and delivering exceptional client service.

We are looking for someone with up to 10 years of experience and a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas (or eligible to obtain it immediately).

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Design (~70%)

  • Lead electrical design for low, medium, and high voltage systems
  • Design protection and control systems, develop relay settings, and configure relays (SEL, GE, ABB, etc.)
  • Perform power system studies: load flow, arc flash, short circuit, grounding, etc. using tools like ETAP, SKM, EasyPower
  • Apply IEEE and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards
  • Develop construction work packages, technical drawings, and reports
  • Write technical specifications and conduct QA/QC reviews

Project Management & Client Delivery (~20%)

  • Oversee projects ranging from $10K to $500K in scope
  • Manage timelines, budgets, resources, and safety compliance
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and ensure deliverable satisfaction
  • Complete invoicing and support business metrics

Client Relations & Business Development (~10%)

  • Build client relationships and identify project opportunities
  • Support proposal writing and project scoping

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas (or immediate eligibility)
  • 5-10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience
  • Proficiency in electrical power system modeling software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, etc.)
  • Expertise in designing, specifying, and commissioning protection and control systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
