Description
Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. Design electrical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. Apply strong knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry. Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. Primarily Domestic Travel up to 25% of the time is required based on project needs. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Multiple Positions Available.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology*, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus three (3) years of electrical engineering experience. Alternatively, employer will accept a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus two (2) years of electrical engineering experience in lieu of Bachelors degree plus three (3) years of described experience.
*A Bachelors degree in any Engineering Technology field must be accompanied with completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
Must have two (2) years of experience with the following:
- Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Must have one (1) year of experience in at least one of the following:
Providing engineering for the design of distribution or transmission substation (or switching station) facilities or related systems.
Electric utility standard techniques, procedures, and criteria utilizing NESC, IEEE, NFPA, or other applicable industry standards.
Performing substation protection and control design, engineering analysis, and supporting calculations (e.g., voltage drop, conduit fill, battery sizing).
Preparing new and modifying existing relay drawings including single lines, three lines, AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay and control panel arrangements.
Preparing new and modifying existing SCADA, fiber-optic, or relay communication drawings.
Preparing new and modifying existing grounding, conduit, or cable routing plans.
Preparing new and modifying existing Bill of Material (BOM) and Cable lists.
Reviewing vendor submittals for conformance to specifications.
