Responsibilities
We're looking for a Senior Interaction Designer to join our Product Design team and shape the future of how users interact with Workato's most critical product surfaces, including our canvas-based recipe editor.
Users interact with Workato through a visual, logic-based canvas that feels more like building with blocks than writing code. It is designed to make even the most complex automations feel approachable and intuitive. These surfaces blend drag-and-drop composition, real-time feedback, and technical depth, and require thoughtful interaction design to make them feel seamless and responsive.
You'll partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers to define the UX vision for core features. We're looking for someone who can zoom out to architect interaction systems, and zoom in to finesse microinteractions that shape the way our users think and build.
This is not a visual design-only role - we're looking for someone who thrives on complexity, thinks in systems, and sweats the interaction details.
Design end-to-end interactive systems, such as canvas-based editors, that enable users to build complex logic with clarity and ease.
Define and document flows, states, behaviors, and edge cases, from first sketch to final pixel.
Partner with product managers to shape the UX vision and strategic direction for core platform features.
Build high-fidelity prototypes to communicate interaction patterns and behavior, especially for drag-and-drop, dynamic UI, and real-time feedback.
Work closely with engineers to bring designs to life while maintaining usability and interaction quality throughout implementation.
Contribute to and evolve our design system to support sophisticated interaction patterns.
Collaborate with researchers to test assumptions, gather insights, and validate interaction approaches.
Balance UX elegance with performance, technical constraints, and scalability.
Requirements
Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills
5+ years of experience designing complex digital products or tools. Experience with enterprise SaaS, low-code platforms, or developer tools is a plus.
A portfolio that shows how you've designed rich, interactive experiences, especially involving logic-building, data manipulation, or canvas-style UIs.
Strong expertise in interaction design principles, motion, and system design.
Experience collaborating with engineers on technically nuanced features.
Comfortable creating interactive prototypes to communicate interaction behavior. Experience prototyping with Cursor, Framer, or HTML/CSS is a plus.
Familiarity with accessibility best practices (WCAG) and inclusive interaction patterns.
Strong communication skills. You're able to explain the design rationale clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
Why Join the Workato Product Design Team
You'll be joining a tight-knit, high-impact team of UX designers, researchers, and digital designers who are deeply embedded in shaping the future of Workato. We collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to define the vision for key product areas - not just executing on specs, but helping drive what gets built and why.
We care deeply about craft and take pride in the details of execution - whether it's refining micro-interactions, improving accessibility, or making complex workflows feel intuitive. We move fast, stay curious, and hold a high bar for quality, all while supporting one another in a collaborative, low-ego environment.
If you're excited by the challenge of designing powerful tools that feel deceptively simple, you'll feel right at home here.
