Position Summary

The Building and Grounds Superintendent position supervises bureau employees and outside contractors involved in the repair, maintenance, grounds care, and operation of assigned FM Group 1 buildings which include 1 West Wilson, DOA Administration Building, Monona Terrace Parking Ramp, Tommy G. Thompson Center, and other buildings as assigned.

This position also assists the Assistant Director in planning, budgeting, contracting, operations, directing building engineering activities, and serves as the liaison to the tenants of all buildings assigned to this position. Maintains and operates an electronic work request/order system to keep inventory, assign and track work orders/requests to staff, and maintain and update the preventative maintenance program.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (81-03) with a salary between $74,880 and $92,206. 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. Applicants may also be asked to complete a DOJ Fingerprinting background check. Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have experience in:

  • Management of daily building operations (e.g. facilities management, repairs, preventative maintenance, or similar)
  • Facilities oversight and operations (e.g. estimating cost of construction, maintenance and improvements, building construction equipment experience, application of building codes and standards such as electrical, heating, air conditioning, etc. or similar)

In addition, well qualified applicants may have experience in:

  • Facilities management supervision (e.g. supervising staff, acting as lead worker, leadership, or similar)
  • Development and maintenance of contracts
