Maintenance Mechanic Level 3

As a Maintenance Mechanic Level 3 here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing equipment and systems. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining and repairing machinery, contributing to the overall productivity of our operations.

You will report directly to our Maintenance Supervisor and you'll work out of our Chickasaw, Alabama location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the operational success by ensuring that equipment is maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime, and enhancing productivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repair / rebuilding rotating equipment including pumps, gearboxes, agitators, conveyors, mechanical seals, etc.
  • Repair / rebuild conveyors and tracking conveyor belts
  • Calculate chain, gear and pulley ratios
  • Pull, rebuild, and reinstall gear reducers on agitators, mixers, mullers, bucket elevators, rotating equipment Etc.
  • Basic burning and welding knowledge and techniques (Oxygen / Acetylene - MIG, TIG and Stick)
  • Shaft alignment of rotating equipment using dial indicator method and laser alignment systems
  • Utilizes hand or power tools, test equipment, forklifts, mobile cranes, technical drawings, and Computers to perform work.
  • Performs team duties that may include managing meetings, communicating with other teams or individuals, managing documentation, records, and scheduling personnel.
  • Responsible for maintaining Safety, Environmental Quality, Product Quality, Productivity, and Inventory accuracy for their area.
  • Inspects and evaluates equipment and equipment performance.
  • Perform tasks associated with test, inspection, and repair of equipment including taking apart and reassembling components after repairing or replacing parts
  • Verifies equipment, or areas, are safe for normal use, hazardous work, servicing, or maintenance.
  • Interacts with technical personnel to resolve equipment issues
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturer's specifications.
  • Deciphers sketches, blueprints, and engineering details.
  • Be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts as required.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, utilizing your expertise in mechanical systems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
  • Repair and replace faulty components and parts, ensuring proper functioning of equipment and systems
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests to identify potential issues and address them proactively
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections
  • Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others

You Must Have:

  • 3 years of experience as an Industrial Mechanic
  • 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment

We Value:

  • High School Diploma
  • Software experience of SAP, PIMS, Master Task List, PI. Knowledge of UOP work processes.
  • Experience using good math skills, familiarity with use of statistical control charts, operating and maintenance instructions, reading and interpreting maintenance procedure manuals, ability to operate computer as needed to input and retrieve information.
  • Experience using good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience using knowledge of fundamental mechanical maintenance, piping, welding, millwright, painting, lubrication, pneumatics, rigging, alignment, and fabrication skills to perform assignments.
  • 2-year Technical degree preferred but not required.
  • Experienced with a demonstrated precision maintenance skill including laser alignment, torque spec utilization, ability to accurately utilize precision measuring tools.
  • Experience with rotating equipment including pumps, gearboxes, agitators, conveyors, mechanical seals, etc.
  • Experience with stationary equipment including tanks, pressure vessels, process piping, etc.
  • Experience with general equipment lubrication requirements.
