POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is seeking a Field Engineer II Electrical (Transmission, HVDC, and Power Generation).
**Location:** Las Vegas Nevada
**Position Type:** Full-Time
**Position Summary:** The Field Engineer II provides critical support to the construction and commissioning teams on high-voltage transmission, high-voltage direct current (HVDC), and power generation projects. The role requires a degreed engineer with experience in electrical engineering disciplines and a strong command of field engineering practices. This individual will serve as a technical liaison between design engineering, procurement, and construction operations, ensuring that electrical installations conform to design specifications, industry standards, and project schedules.
In addition to traditional field engineering responsibilities, the Field Engineer II is expected to bring advanced digital skills to the team, including the development and deployment of AI-assisted tools to enhance field reporting, productivity tracking, and engineering communication.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Provide on-site engineering support for the installation, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage (345kV and above) electrical systems, including underground transmission, substations, HVDC converter stations, and generation interconnection facilities.
+ Interpret and verify engineering drawings, specifications, and installation standards to ensure proper field execution.
+ Interface with construction teams, subcontractors, and equipment vendors to resolve field technical issues and ensure work quality.
+ Track and document engineering changes, redlines, and Requests for Information (RFIs) and communicate them efficiently to the appropriate engineering disciplines.
+ Develop and utilize digital toolsleveraging AI, data analytics, and custom software scripts (e.g., Python, Power BI, Excel macros)to streamline daily reporting, productivity tracking, and issue resolution workflows.
+ Assist in the preparation and review of technical submittals, inspection test plans (ITPs), and commissioning procedures.
+ Conduct site walks and inspections to ensure conformance with approved design documents and applicable codes.
+ Support constructability reviews and provide field-level engineering assessments during project design, execution, and turnover phases.
+ Collaborate with safety, quality, and environmental teams to ensure compliance with project and regulatory standards.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or closely related field (required).
+ Minimum 35 years of experience supporting field engineering activities on utility-scale high-voltage transmission, HVDC, or power generation projects.
+ Working knowledge of electrical transmission standards including IEEE, NESC, NEC, and applicable utility practices.
+ Proficiency with reading and interpreting single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, protection and control drawings, and SCADA/communications architecture.
+ Demonstrated experience or interest in applying AI-enhanced tools for automation, reporting, or decision-making support.
+ Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; familiarity with scripting languages or platforms (e.g., Python, Power BI, SQL, MATLAB) is preferred.
+ Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
+ Willingness to work at remote project sites, travel as needed, and interface with multidisciplinary field teams.
**Work Environment:** This position is primarily field-based and may require extended periods on active construction sites, including outdoor environments with varying weather conditions. Appropriate PPE will be required and provided.

Base Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
