Junior Estimator - Disaster Recovery Division Location: Sarasota, Florida| Department: Estimating | Reports to: Lead Estimator Ceres Environmental is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to support the preparation of cost estimates for pre-disaster recovery bids. This is a growth-oriented role ideal for someone looking to build their career in emergency management, civil construction, or disaster recovery services. You'll work closely with senior estimators and leaders, gaining exposure to real-world estimating strategies in a high-impact industry. Key Responsibilities: Review scopes of work (SOW), features of work, and pricing requirements for disaster response bids. Assist in preparing pricing models using historical cost data, industry benchmarks, and internal pricing tools. Support the development of initial price sheets and comparative summaries for proposals. Analyze government RFPs and contracts, interpreting emergency management guidelines to develop compliant estimates. Conduct quantity take-offs and basic cost analysis using satellite imagery and GIS data when applicable. Gather and organize subcontractor quotes, material costs, labor rates, and documentation for bid submissions. Participate in competitor pricing analysis and track trends across proposals. Maintain an organized estimate library of past bids and pricing strategies. Collaborate with senior estimators to refine pricing strategies and gain exposure to more complex estimating tasks. Provide support to operations during project execution to ensure alignment with estimated scope. Qualifications: 1-3 years of experience in estimating, civil construction, disaster recovery, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Math, Business, or a similar discipline. Willingness to travel to job sites when needed. Strong ability to learn new concepts quickly and take directions from experienced team members. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas); knowledge of other MS Office tools is a plus. Interest or prior exposure to surge pricing and large-scale emergency logistics is a plus. Key Skills: Technical Understanding of bid analysis and pricing strategy. Basic cost modeling and data interpretation. Competency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software. Interpersonal Strong communication and collaboration skills.
