Refrigeration Technician

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $4,000 over two years
Position Overview:
System One is partnering with one of our clients in search for a quality Refrigeration Technician. As a Refrigeration Technician, you will be an essential part of our production facility, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of ammonia-based refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, and boilers. Your expertise will be vital in troubleshooting, conducting repairs, and maintaining our manufacturing systems, helping to keep our food production lines running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, and plant support systems, including boilers and air compressors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to refrigeration and HVAC operations.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Utilize technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to guide repair and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in predictive maintenance initiatives and interpret findings to plan necessary repairs.
  • Be available for occasional travel to support technical development or other company needs.
  • Work flexible shifts in a 24/7 food manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in the food industry.
  • Proficient in ammonia refrigeration system operation, maintenance, and repair, including PSM requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC system maintenance and repair.
  • First Class Stationary Engineer license is required.
  • Understanding of predictive maintenance concepts and ability to interpret PdM findings.
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following areas, with basic knowledge in others:
    • Maintenance and repair of motor controls, general industrial wiring, and electrical troubleshooting.
    • Maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, bearings, seals, gears, and lubrication.
    • Basic MIG and TIG welding for repair purposes.
    • Use of shop machinery and industrial tools for repair tasks.
  • A degree in electrical, electronics, or HVAC, or equivalent training/experience is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate emotionally charged situations effectively.
