Job Title: Test Facility Mechanical Engineer

Working Pattern: Onsite

Working location: Stennis Space Center, MS (Hancock County)

As a Test Facility Mechanical Engineer for Rolls-Royce, you will work with all aspects of test facility lifecycles. The test facility lifecycle consists of work related to new facility creation, conversion and adaptation of test equipment, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, capability improvements, and facility decommissioning activities. This is an exciting position where you will work with test engineering and project groups to help ensure Rolls-Royce test facility capabilities are ready when needed.

What you will be doing:

With this new role, you will work on the following:

  • Apply, size, select, install, use, and troubleshoot: process control systems, valves, piping, fittings, tubing, pumps, motors, generators, pneumatic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, and hydraulic systems. Analyze structures, equipment, and systems to develop preventive maintenance plans and apply preventive maintenance techniques.

  • Contribute to a safety and continuous improvement mindset and enhance the skills of site personnel through training and awareness initiatives.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects by creating specifications and cost/ schedule estimates, obtaining vendor quotations, and initiating procurement/fabrication through a gated process.

  • Perform job oversight during the test facility conversions or test equipment installations. Provide direction for internal personnel and/or contracted personnel. Organize safety meetings related to installation efforts. Coordinate to ensure installations do not interfere with other testing that may be in progress or planned.

  • Document work through concept sketches, layouts, drawings, reports, memos, best practice guides, and regular status updates/emails.

  • Provide engineering field support to resolve routine technical problems by applying standard engineering techniques. Work without constant or direct oversight, but under the general guidance of the team manager or more senior engineers.

Basic Qualifications :

  • A Bachelors degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 1+ year of experience in engineering OR;

  • An Engineering Masters degree with 0 years of experience in engineering OR;

  • An Engineering JD/PhD with 0 years of experience in engineering OR;

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • To be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 5+ years of experience in a test or industrial facility environment

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have full understanding of all processes, procedures, and safety risks associated with a testing environment.

  • Knowledge of industrial gensets, hydraulic systems, pressure systems, and structural considerations.

  • Proficiency in taking capital projects through design and program management gated process.

Pay Range: $70,629 - $105,943

Relocation is available for this role.
