This is skilled manual work in in the Police Department, involving considerable journeyman level skills in the alteration, maintenance and repair of municipal buildings and facilities. The nature and pace of the work requires that an employee in this class be self-motivated, have a positive attitude and be highly ambitious. Work involves the use of skilled trade knowledge to clean, repair or replace various facility components such as doors, fencing and lawn sprinkling systems. Work may also include reading manuals, blueprints and schematics to determine repair needs for various equipment; skilled use of a variety of tools; painting; carpentry; plumbing; masonry work; mechanical and electrical repairs; minor welding; and preventative and scheduled maintenance. Work may involve lead worker responsibility over one or more semi-skilled workers. This position primarily works days, Monday - Friday; however, depending on operational needs, the work schedule may vary to include night, weekend and holiday hours.

Salary: $23.02 - $32.63 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Possess considerable experience in three (3) or more of the trades involved.
  • Have considerable knowledge of HVAC systems and operation.
  • HBe able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have some skill using a personal computer.
