This role has an onsite work schedule requiring the person to be in the onsite location 5 days a week.

What You Will Do

Support Advanced Bioprinting Operations\:

  • Integrate and test advanced printing hardware systems for organ bioprinting applications
  • Collaborate with bioprinting team members and United Therapeutics partners on critical project deliverables
  • Assist in the design and validation of mechanical systems specifically engineered for bioprinting processes
  • Troubleshoot and optimize hardware performance to meet stringent biomedical requirements

Engineering Design and Development\:

  • Contribute to novel R&D challenges in mechanical system design for bioprinting applications
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on mechanical components and assemblies
  • Support prototype development and testing protocols for new bioprinting technologies
  • Document design processes, test results, and technical findings for project advancement

Cross-Functional Collaboration\:

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including biomedical engineers, software developers, and research scientists
  • Interact with senior leaders and gain exposure to various engineering disciplines across the organization
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical discussions on bioprinting innovations
  • Support knowledge transfer activities between internal teams and external collaborators

  • Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals
    • Proficiency in physics and engineering principles
    • Understanding of electronics and electro-mechanical systems
  • Technical and design capabilities
    • CAD experience (any platform)
    • Comfortable working in laboratory environments

Preferred

  • Academic performance
    • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Relevant experience
    • Internship, co-op, or research experience in a related engineering field
  • Technical preferences
    • SolidWorks experience preferred over other CAD platforms

Qualifications for the Intern Program

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week in the specified location.
  • Currently enrolled as a student seeking an Undergraduate or Master’s degree.
  • Preference is for current students who are rising seniors in an undergraduate program or final year students in a graduate program from an accredited school and program.
  • Preference is given to students with internship/co-op/research experience.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
