Description
The Pipefitting Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all pipefitting activities on assigned projects within the Coastal Mechanical group. This role ensures work is completed safely, on time, and to company quality standards, while managing field crews, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring adherence to plans and specifications. Vehicle allowance, gas card, and phone allowance or company phone provided for work purposes *If you qualify. In state travel from Jupiter to Miami required. This is a safety sensitive position.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead field crews in the layout, installation, and inspection of mechanical piping systems (chilled water, heating hot water, condenser water, natural gas, etc.).
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
- Coordinate daily site activities with foremen, subcontractors, and general contractors to maintain schedule and productivity.
- Enforce job site safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety protocols, and PPE requirements.
- Conduct daily huddles, toolbox talks, and ensure documentation of all safety incidents or near misses.
- Track and report manpower, material, and equipment needs; monitor and control labor and material costs.
- Work with Project Managers and Procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Participate in constructability reviews, layout planning, and prefabrication coordination when applicable.
- Train, coach, and mentor foremen, journeymen, and apprentices; provide performance feedback.
- Ensure quality control measures are in place and inspect work for compliance with project specs and standards.
- Support commissioning and turnover efforts through system startup, flushing, testing, and inspections.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in commercial/industrial pipefitting, with at least 3 years in a leadership or superintendent role.
- Experience managing field crews on projects over $2M in mechanical scope.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping layouts, and common industry installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and shop drawings.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes (e.g., ASME, NFPA, OSHA).
- Proficient in field technology (iPads, Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to complete within 30 days of hire).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) *Must possess the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English to effectively communicate and understand work instructions, safety protocols, and project documentation
