What You'll Do:
Lead a crew of 9 full-time staff plus seasonal employees and contractors in all facets of highway operations
Oversee construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public infrastructure
Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, sweepers, and trucks over 26,001 lbs. GVW
Plan and lead snow removal and emergency response operations
Coordinate day-to-day work assignments, ensuring high-quality, timely, and safe execution
Foster a positive, team-focused environment with a strong culture of safety and accountability
Engage with residents and respond to community concerns with professionalism and care
What You Bring:
High school diploma required; Associate's Degree and technical training strongly preferred
5+ years of experience in highway operations and heavy equipment operation
Supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a team
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
Knowledge of road construction, snow & ice removal techniques, and heavy equipment use
Required Certifications:
Massachusetts Class B CDL
Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer's License: 1C, 2A, 3A, 4E, 4G
OSHA 10 Certification
DOT Medical Card
Willingness to obtain:
Underground Storage Tank Class A/B Operator Certification
MA Qualified Tree Warden Certification
Work Hours & Benefits
The hours are conveniently 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, with overtime as required. The successful candidate will be provided with a take home vehicle and a town cell phone or a cell phone stipend of $52 per month. A daily 30-minute lunch as agreed upon by the Highway Division Manager.
