Equipment Operator**DEPARTMENT:** Solid Waste**Grade:** 25**Starting Salary:** $37,410.62**Position Number:** 471215**Posted:** June 10, 2025**Closing: Until Filled****RESPONSIBILITIES:**Performs semi-skilled work operating refuse and recycling processing, collection, transport equipment and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the site Crew Leader or Supervisor.**Qualification Requirements**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.**Essential Functions**- Operates light to heavy construction and transport equipment in the management of landfill and recycling operations- Transport recyclable materials and containers to landfill or other disposal locations.- Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance and general repairs.- Regularly washes equipment to prevent issues that could lead to equipment malfunction or fire.- Daily maintains the appearance of the facility operational and surrounding area.- Picks up windblown litter and returns it to proper disposal area.- Prepares and maintains various reports. Performs other functions as needed at the Landfill and Material Recovery Facility.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**General knowledge of the operation and servicing of automotive equipment; generalknowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation. Must haveability to understand and follow specific oral instructions; ability to detect signs ofmechanical failure of the automotive and packing equipment; ability to read and write;ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates andgeneral public. This work requires the frequent exertion of 25 pounds and sometimes upMacon County Job Posting Request to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms.
