Welder Job Description Perform TIG welding on stainless steel exhaust systems with thickness ranging from 1/8" to 1/2". The role involves low production welding and repair welding from robotic welds that require adjustments after machining. The job supports both automotive and heavy-duty industries. Responsibilities Execute manual welding functions independently, focusing on TIG welding of stainless steel exhaust systems. Operate, set, and maintain manual production welding equipment for joining metal components according to defined welding processes. Monitor quality, process paperwork, and maintain a clean work area. Meet fast-paced production requirements. Run robotic weld machines or Continuous Resistance Welders when manual welding demand is lower. Potentially troubleshoot robotic weld machines and train operators. Essential Skills 2 years of TIG welding experience on stainless steel with thicknesses of 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2". 1+ year of stainless steel welding experience with 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2" thicknesses. Proficiency in blueprint reading, including understanding weld symbols and identifying metals and material gauges. Additional Skills & Qualifications 3-5 years of TIG welding experience. Work Environment Located at 1201 Building, the work environment includes automated tube benders, welder machines, ABB material handling robots, conveyors, and PLC troubleshooting with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff. The facility is fast-paced but clean, with some areas experiencing consistent loud noises. Employees must comply with PPE and safety requirements, including wearing steel-toe shoes at all times. Safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection are provided. Shift hours are Monday to Thursday with potential overtime on Fridays. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, Michigan. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
