Job Description: As anAdvanced Shipfitter, you'll bring your expertise in structural fabrication and welding to a dynamic shipbuilding environment. This role is ideal for ashipfitterwith at least four years of industrial or commercial experience, especially in structural stick welding. Responsibilities: Perform multi-pass stick weld tests like a trueshipfitter. Use oxygen/propane burning torches to cut and shape materialsjust another day in the life of ashipfitter. Heat materials with precision using oxygen/propane heating torches. Read and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketchesskills every greatshipfitterneeds. Measure and lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly like a seasonedshipfitter. Assemble structural components with accuracy and quality. Work in physically demanding environments typical for ashipfittershipyards, steel fabrication shops, and more. Follow OSHA regulations and safety protocols relevant to shipbuilding. Operate vibratory tools such as grinders and needle gunstools of theshipfittertrade. Requirements: Minimum 4 years of experience as ashipfitteror structural fabricator. Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols. Strong stick welding and torch-handling skills. Must have Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) experience.
