Traffic Engineer #2413 - Engineering - Public Works Division

Under limited supervision, oversees traffic engineering projects including design, construction documentation, surveying, bid and construction administration, and performs the managerial, supervisory, and administrative functions of the engineering design.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.)A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of direct work experience related to traffic design engineering, two (2) years of which must be in a supervisory role. Must possess a Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Tennessee. A valid drivers license is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to have completed the Hamilton County Defensive Driving course issued by the National Safety Council and/or or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided by the department.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of ten (10) years of direct work experience related to traffic design engineering is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Work requires minimal physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and driving. Occasional visits to project work sites are required.
