Our **Transportation** practice includes civil engineering, bridge &
structural engineering, Resident Engineering and Inspection, Bridge
Inspection, and geotechnical engineering. We specialize in analysis,
design, evaluation, monitoring, and rehabilitation for a wide variety of
transportation infrastructure projects. We offer a wide range of
expertise to support client needs for both new and existing
transportation infrastructure.
**The Role**
Thornton Tomasetti\'s Transportation practice is seeking an Associate
Civil Engineer. This role will see the candidate leading projects and
managing staff within the Transportation practice including strategic
planning for growing the civil engineering group, client development,
staff development and mentoring, and overseeing the technical
performance of the group. The ideal candidate will have experience
working on highway approach design, highway reconstruction and
intersection improvement projects for MaineDOT, Maine Turnpike and local
municipalities.
**Responsibilities**
- Assists in the direction, coordination, planning, and completion of
engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility.
- Communicates with clients to understand project requirements.
- Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff
according to project requirements.
- Manages design team members and supervises the work of engineers and
draft persons in preparing contract documents including drawings,
specifications and estimates.
- Leads staff and provides technical direction and supervision of
multiple projects.
- Assists with recruiting department staff within the group.
- Assists in business development efforts to support the department\'s
growth.
**Requirements**
- Bachelor\'s degree in civil engineering. Master\'s degree in civil
engineering preferred.
- P.E. License in ME (multi-state Preferred)
- Minimum of 10 to 20 years\' relevant experience.
- Proven ability to manage large transportation engineering projects
and teams effectively
- Experience with Maine Turnpike Authority, MaineDOT, and local
municipalities, strong preference given to local experience
- Knowledge of MUTCD and AASHTO design methods, standards, and
specifications.
- Working knowledge of Microstation, In Roads and Open Roads
