JOB SUMMARY
Polaris is seeking qualified candidates to join our Powertrain Development team at our Off-Road Proving Grounds. In this role, youll collaborate with a passionate group of experts to develop and test cutting-edge powertrain technologies, ensuring seamless integration into our vehicles. Daily responsibilities include building and instrumenting engines, CVTs, gearcases, and full vehicles, as well as collecting field data, independently conducting tests, and writing detailed reports.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality work with minimal supervision. They should thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, and take full ownership of their work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and update test engine and drivetrain hardware for testing; instrument components as specified.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze test data.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data collected.
- Set up and operate data acquisition systems and related software.
- Develop, maintain, and improve test procedures and processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with OSHA standards and 5S methodology.
- Uphold strict confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Critical Technical Requirements
- Technical degree related to powersports or a minimum of 3 years of experience in powertrain/vehicle testing.
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Ability to operate off-road vehicles (ORVs) in extreme conditions.
- Ability to drive trucks with trailers (under 26,000 GCVR).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid understanding of internal combustion engines, CVTs and gearcases
- Proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Desirable Technical Skills
- Knowledge of fuel injection and ignition calibration, mapping, and tuning.
- Familiarity with vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and schematic reading.
- Experience with data collection for strain/force, temperature, pressure, and flow.
- Skills in fabrication, machining, and welding.
- Experience with ETAS INCA or similar software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and digital photography .
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Fast-paced professional testing environment focused on developing off-road vehicles.
- Regular exposure to machinery, engines, moving parts, and hazardous chemicals.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
