Cardinal Staffing is currently looking for an Overhead Crane Operator in Canton, MI! Shift is a 1st shift 6am start time, typically 8-10 hours. $18 per hour.
This position requires 2 years of overhead crane experience
The Overhead Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating overhead cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials such as steel, equipment, and supplies in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. The role requires a strong understanding of load limits, rigging techniques, and safety procedures to prevent accidents and maintain workflow efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operate overhead bridge cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices to move materials and products.
  2. Inspect cranes and lifting equipment prior to use to ensure proper working condition and report any defects.
  3. Safely rig loads using slings, chains, and other devices according to weight and shape specifications.
  4. Follow production schedules and supervisor instructions for moving and staging materials.
  5. Maintain communication with floor personnel and spotters to coordinate lifting activities.
  6. Ensure proper load balancing and secure transport of materials.
  7. Record and track movements, inventory adjustments, and production data as needed.
  8. Adhere to all OSHA regulations, company safety protocols, and PPE requirements.
  9. Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Proven experience operating overhead cranes in an industrial setting.
  3. OSHA Overhead Crane Certification or ability to obtain upon hire preferred.
  4. Familiarity with rigging practices and load rating charts.
  5. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Physical ability to lift, stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  7. Basic math, communication, and record-keeping skills.
Work Environment:Industrial setting with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving machinery. Requires wearing protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats.
