The Operations Manager position for the OPW Midland operations and responsible for leading the implementation of world class operational excellence principles and optimize daily operations to deliver best-in-class customer experience. Key measures of performance include safety, external and internal quality, on-time delivery, lead time, productivity, and working capital improvements. All of this will be surrounded with a predominant focus on organizational and talent development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY/ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drives overall operational excellence through the application of best-in-class operational excellence practices and processes.
  • Develop, interpret, apply, and enforce company safety regulations and operating policies and procedures.
  • Identify and address manufacturing issues and drive excellence in: SQDC
  • Addresses key business performance challenges. Identifies and prioritizes these challenges based on root cause identification.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality regulations, standards and corporate policies including but not limited to ISO 9001:2015, AAR M-1003, TUV, ASME.
  • Focus on talent and organizational development, an effective succession planning system, and a culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Institute a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Builds a strong operations talent base. Partners with human resources to develop talent management strategies.
  • Leads daily operations ensuring customer expectations are consistently satisfied, products and services always meet the quality specifications, and all resources are fully utilized to provide a cost-effective product and service.
  • Establishes performance goals and objectives for site operations. Provides feedback and corrective action to maintain progress toward achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Champions change and drives out waste throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Manage labor utilization and efficiency within assembly, machining, welding, and support staff.
  • Promote good public relations for the Company within the community.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company. Builds a great working environment for the employees. Attracts, develops, retains, and motivates the talent needed to be a world class, high performing team.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates accountability and lead by example through strong team building, decision making and people management skills
  • Maintains a safety-first culture and drives actions to maintain a safe work environment
  • Develops and maintains business metrics to ensure targets are on track
  • Oversees staff scheduling and maintains overtime requirements, vacation, and time off requests
  • Uses logical and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions analyze information and choose best solution and approach to solve problems.
  • Coach team on leadership development and assists in creating development and performance evaluations.
  • Provide team performance feedback and recommends salary increases.
  • Utilizes Positive Employment Relations to ensure workforce concerns are addressed and issues resolved in a effective and timely manner. Ensures communication lines remain open across all levels within the facility.
  • Fosters collaborative cohesive relationship across all areas/departments of the facility

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree/Bachelors Degree (preferred) Business/Engineering
  • 5 years minimum, 10 years preferred experience leading within a manufacturing environment supporting high mix/low volume product families with a track record for delivering results.
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills. Experience with change management and driving continuous improvement activates.
  • Demonstrates clear understand of all tasks and processes within manufacturing, including machining, welding, and assembly.
  • Experience in team development problem solving, conflict resolution, building cooperative relationships, and effective communications.
  • Strong computer literacy. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite and ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Knowledge of practical application of engineering including applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment for production of various goods.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDTIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for several hours per day with occasionally sitting. The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 25 up to 50 pounds.

Employees are required to wear safety glasses and steel toed shoes to meet minimum safety requirements when walking through or working in the plant area

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Pay Range: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00
