Cement Finisher

Brayman Construction is seeking a Full-time Cement Finisher for our projects in Roanoke and Richmond, VA Areas.

The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy highway and/or bridge construction, flatwork, carrying out concrete finishing operations on surfaces such as parapets, caps, columns, footings, deck slabs, sidewalks and more. Ability to travel to project sites and must be able to work outdoors year round.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete parapets, caps, columns, footings, retaining walls, abutments, deck slabs and any other concrete structures to specified grade and texture
• Use hand tools and power tools including but not limited to floats, trowels, edgers and screeds
• Remove rough and defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or power chisel
• Patch holes or defects with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
• Wet and rub concrete with hand tools to get desired finish
• Carry, load, unload and stack materials
• Shovel, rake, spread and vibrate concrete into place
• Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on project as needed
• Jackhammer and saw cut concrete
• Clean up project site of debris

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Cement Finisher in heavy civil, bridge, or infrastructure construction projects
• Proficiency in concrete placement, finishing, and curing techniques for large-scale structural projects
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications
• Expertise in operating hand tools (trowels, floats, edgers) and power tools (screeds, vibrators, power trowels)
• Knowledge of concrete mix designs, admixtures, and curing methods specific to bridge and heavy civil applications
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, durable finishes
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions
• Certifications: Preferred certifications include ACI Concrete Flatwork Finisher/Technician, OSHA 10/30, or equivalent safety training. Valid driver's license is a plus
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, communicating clearly with crew members and supervisors

Safety Sensitive Position:

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
