SUMMARY
The Corporate Construction Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for the enterprise-wide construction portfolio, managing high-value, multi-site projects from inception through completion. This position ensures alignment with corporate standards, enterprise goals, and market needs while fostering innovation in construction and design practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the planning, execution, and completion of complex capital construction projects across the enterprise.
  • Develops and maintains corporate standards for construction, ensuring quality, efficiency, and brand consistency.
  • Collaborates with Corporate Real Estate, Finance, Retail, Operations, and senior leadership to align projects with strategic business objectives.
  • Develops and oversees project budgets and forecasts, ensuring optimal capital deployment and cost control.
  • Directs external project partners including architects, engineers, general contractors, and vendors.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to the CRE Construction Coordinator, ensuring consistency and quality across all project levels.
  • Leads evaluations of new construction innovations, industry trends, and sustainability practices to improve project delivery and design.
  • Establishes and monitors KPIs to assess construction project performance, including timelines, budgets, and quality metrics.
  • Advises on facility design to enhance client experience, employee experience, and community relevance.
  • Develops and enforces risk management plans, escalating critical issues as needed.
  • Reviews and approves project charters, contracts, RFPs, and major change orders.
  • Champions continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and operational efficiencies.
  • Stays abreast of construction and banking design trends, making recommendations to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders for future design considerations.
  • Partners with Facilities and Corporate Real Estate on long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Oversees closeout processes and ensures smooth transition to Facilities Management post-construction.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance with building codes, ADA standards, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Leads site visits on key projects and milestone inspections to validate quality and progress.
  • Facilitates stakeholder communication and executive-level reporting on active construction initiatives.
  • Guides the strategic direction of design prototypes and branch evolution across diverse markets.
  • Drives a culture of excellence, safety, and accountability across all construction activities.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises the CRE Construction Coordinator and provides mentorship, performance management, and professional development.
  • Participates in the hiring and onboarding of construction team staff and external project resources.
  • Delegates project scope based on complexity, risk, and resource availability.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures within the construction function.
  • Leads cross-functional project teams and collaborates with senior leaders to align on enterprise-wide facility strategies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of construction management best practices, lifecycle project delivery, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to develop and interpret budgets, timelines, risk assessments, and complex construction plans.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to make high-impact decisions under pressure.
  • Effective communicator with exceptional interpersonal, organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in vendor negotiation, contract administration, and cross-functional leadership.
  • High-level understanding of design thinking, workplace strategy, and client/employee experience in physical environments.
  • Ability to analyze emerging trends in construction and banking, and recommend actionable strategies.
  • Capable of balancing short-term execution with long-term portfolio planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and MS Project or Sensei IQ.
  • Knowledgeable in construction software such as ProCore, BlueBeam, and/or AutoCAD preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field required and
  • 7-9 years construction management experience, preferably in a banking, retail, or commercial real estate environment required or
  • 7-9 years experience in related roles within a general contractor or architectural firm required and
  • 1-3 years experience in a leadership role managing direct reports and cross-functional teams required or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Project Management Professional preferred
