Job Overview

The role of the Engineering Technician IV is to provide day-to-day Shipboard installation support for a variety of RF, audio, video, navigation, and communication system installations. This position reports to the Installation Supervisor. This position is open to current CGS Chesapeake employees only.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Working with NIWC ISEAs and other technical codes, program/project managers, and SMEs, the ER4 will assist with the Shipboard installation and integration of complex audio/visual displays, various communication and electronic warfare systems, related ancillary and computer-based systems onboard naval ships and command centers worldwide.
  • Solve technical problems.
  • Supervise and guide the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and refurbishment of various communications, navigation, power, command and control, and interior communications systems.
  • Assure that the product and its manufacturing process meet quality and safety standards.
  • Test equipment to make sure that the manufacturing process operates effectively and safely.
  • Interpret plans and drawings and contribute to the design and fabrication.

Accountable For:

  • Completing assigned work in a timely and professional manner
  • Keeping managers apprised of progress, issues, and planned efforts of each assigned task using effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a minimum security clearance of secret within 12 months of hire date.
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 75% CONUS/OCONUS.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have a strong proficiency in quality control tools and methodologies while demonstrating excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must have a minimum of 8 years shipboard installation/integration experience.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

Preferred:

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial, especially while on travel.

Working Conditions:

  • Shipyard Industrial, outdoor exposed to weather, working from heights, working around grinding/welding, climbing, and working from ladders, working in spaces that may not be climate-controlled.

Physical Requirements:

  • Climb ladders, work in hot, cold, and inclement weather.
