Job Summary

NELCO's Houston operation supports a wide range of domestic and international medical and industrial markets. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial business mindset, proven success in managing multiple tasks and initiatives for maximum productivity to ensure the smooth operations of day-to-day activities. This person will need to be able to work independently, be part of a team, and support several groups within the company. Qualified candidates must have a broad knowledge of the manufacturing processes in a job shop environment. Experience with casting operation, steel fabrication, and assembly of various construction building materials is a plus. The position also requires a project management component which includes the need to understand and interpret manufacturing drawings and then convert those components to the final product. Additionally, take the lead with project management requirements for installation of the final product at a customer site. The ideal candidate will additionally manage administrative and operational requirements for manufactured products from customer orders, including interacting with customers, order entry, purchasing, manufacturing, and shipping. The candidate should be competent in Industrial Environmental Health and Safety programs, and formal Quality Management systems. They must be highly motivated to work accomplishing divisional and company goals and objectives.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

Maintain constant communication with managers, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the facility

Estimating bids and proposals to meet customers' deadlines compliant with Quality Management System Policy and Procedures.

Complete ownership of customer projects for various products and services including communicating with the customer, sales order entry, purchasing of required materials, scheduling through production, shipping to the customer and installation at customer site if needed.

Purchasing for job or inventory requirements

Highly motivated, can work with a team, and able to take ownership of a business segment.

Supervisory Responsibility

Participate with all aspects of the operation to meet the financial budgets and goals of the operation.

Strategic and operational development and execution of short and long-term operating plans.

Participate in program for compliance with all environmental, health, and safety practices and procedures for all projects

Participate in the program for compliance with all aspects of the profit center with the corporate quality management system.

Direct oversight of all aspects of divisional employee management, including motivating team members, setting clear expectations, and providing the support and resources necessary to ensure both individual and team success.

Key Operational Responsibilities

Collaborate with the sales team to develop pricing strategies and cost-based offerings for select international projects.

Coordinates and oversees all direct labor and subcontractors for divisional projects with project team but also manages projects directly.

Qualifies and oversees subcontracts and vendors

Responsible for ensuring compliance and mentoring the ISO 9001 certified NELCO Quality Management System within the operation

Challenges project team to identify and implement cost and time saving measures.

Develops and grows internal staff to meet current and future operational needs.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

5-10 years' manufacturing operations experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in operations management and/or business administration, technical degree or related field

Financial and account reporting experience

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.

Proficient with Microsoft office suite, and proficient with ERP software and learning new applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Good interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other standard office equipment such as copy machines, phones, photocopiers, fax machines and computer printers. The staff member in this position frequently communicates internally and externally; must be able to exchange accurate information via phone, email, and/or in person. Specific vision abilities apply including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

This position operates in a clerical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position requires going into various fabrication shop environments and interacting with shop staff.
