RK&K is hiring talented Construction Inspectors to join our heavy civil, transportation construction team. This is a great opportunity to work with a team of CEI professionals and build on your skills as a leader in the field. This position will work projects on the Eastern Shore near Salisbury, MD (Dorchester, Wicomico and Worcester Counties).
Essential Function
Provide construction management support, including inspection and monitoring of roadway and bridge structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations
Fully engage in solving complex problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
Supervise and monitor the activities of other inspectors
Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
Record-keeping and reporting as required
Required technical and functional skills
Required Skills and Experience
(2) two to (20) twenty years of relevant experience in materials, standards, and specifications related to state highway projects and facilities
Must be able to operate basic Microsoft Office Applications, Laptop and iPad
Inspection experience including roadway, asphalt, concrete, pavement markings, structure and bridge construction methods
Excellent communication skills
Capable of working independently on small construction projects
Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
Preferred Skills and Experience
MDOT and other local public agency experience desired
MDOT Material Certifications are a plus (Asphalt, Concrete, Pavement Marking, Soils, Intermediate Traffic Control Certified, etc.)
Experience with certified payrolls, preparing progress payments to contractors, documenting MBE participation, etc.
