A Structural Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. This engineering role independently leads and executes complex, multi-disciplinary project tasks, devising innovative technical solutions and coordinating efforts across teams and stakeholders, particularly within the energy, chemical, or infrastructure sectors.

responsibilities:
  • Independently plans and executes engineering tasks, applying sound judgment and adapting techniques to solve engineering challenges.

  • Devises new technical solutions to address complex engineering problems.

  • Performs conventional engineering work, sometimes involving conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.

  • May assume lead technical role over other engineers or subgroups for task completion.

  • Provides mentorship and training to junior personnel; contributes to performance evaluations.

  • Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, and technical correspondence.

  • Performs original design and problem analysis.

  • Supports estimation efforts including cost, material quantities, and staffing needs.

  • Promotes an open, collaborative, and innovative work culture.
Skills:

  • strong knowledge of engineering systems, design calculations, and department procedures.

  • Understanding of constructability principles, construction methods, and economic impacts.

  • Familiar with engineering codes and standards (industry or regulatory specific).

  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD, CAE, and engineering planning software tools.

  • Effective communication skills for client/vendor interaction and team collaboration.
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in engineering or scientific discipline.

  • Minimum 9 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Professional engineering license from a recognized licensing board.

  • Completion of specialized courses to meet technical job demands.

  • Proven experience in design engineering or closely related fields.
