Refrigeration Technician

Position Overview The primary purpose of this position is to assist in overseeing the safe operation, daily monitoring and maintenance of large scale industrial anhydrous ammonia and R-22 refrigeration systems. Oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring and maintenance of industrial and office HVAC systems. Provide assistance to Manager of Facilities Maintenance to ensure assets (Refrigeration/HVAC/Electrical systems) are managed in accordance with the following: IIAR (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration), ASHRE (American Society of HVAC and Refrigeration Engineers), ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), EPA, OSHA and applicable State and Local Codes. You will contribute by:

• Assist in oversight and management of Refrigeration, Electrical, and HVAC systems including monitoring and trending, troubleshooting and repairs (Compressors, condensers, fans, heating, cooling, contactors, motors, micro processors, frequency drives, etc.).
• Conduct preventive maintenance (P.M.'s) within established timelines (assist in oil analysis, filter changes, calibration of sensors and transducers, compressor alignment checks/adjustments, etc.).
• Perform leak detection, conduct required inspections and reporting, ensure product integrity is maintained through temperature monitoring & control. Observe and report equipment condition, provide clear and concise communication with Management. etc. Responsible for logging time and materials into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) on a daily basis in the form of work orders, P.M.s, etc.
• Responsible for daily communication of all pertinent information regarding system operation and maintenance to departmental management and refrigeration teams. Responsible for housekeeping and clean up of refrigeration machine rooms, refrigeration maintenance areas, and all proiect areas on a dailv basis.
• Assist management in developing standard operating procedures, and assisting in the scheduling of repairs and maintenance for refrigeration and HVAC systems. Assist in managing outside mechanical and refrigeration contractors conducting service, repair and new contract work.
• This position will also assist the building and material handling equipment maintenance teams. Duties will include assisting in general building repairs, electrical troubleshooting and repairs, forklift repair and maintenance, changing and servicing lift batteries, and other general maintenance activities.

• Warehouse: Perishable Warehouse (28F to 60F)

Skills

• Glycol Systems, computerized control systems
• HAZMAT, Low Voltage Control Systems, OSHA, Good Manufacturing Processes, PSM, RMP
• Site inspections, equipment inspections, mechanical repairs and replacements, all which require good mobility, physical exertion, walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, carrying tools and parts, etc.
• Critical Issue: Ammonia Incident: a) Assist in assessment of issue and impact to business model b) Assist in communicating issue and impact to Maintenance and Facility Management and Senior Director of Corporate Refrigeration c) Participation of the incident investigation team d) Assist in implementing incident investigation plan for final issue abatement and remediation including associated schedule and costs.

Years Of Experience

• 2 years in HVACR, Refrigeration/Electrical, Trade School Certification, or equivalent experience,
• 2 years in Refrigeration/Electrical/HVAC or equivalent experience.
