Job Description As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating various types of power construction equipment to excavate, move, and drill materials. This role requires travel and involves maintaining and repairing roads and rights-of-way, loading, hauling, and dumping materials on various surfaces. Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way.
- Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread and dump rock and gravel.
- Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication of equipment.
- Train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment, tools, job techniques, and skills.
- Inspect equipment or materials and identify any problems or causes of error.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
- Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and explain and take corrective action as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation, including backhoe, dozer, and excavator.
- Experience in earthworks and excavation.
- Ability to utilize GPS technology for civil site and civil construction projects.
- Fine grading skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, layout tools, and measurement tools.
