Electrical Technician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join our team. The role involves troubleshooting issues with hydraulics, mechanics, and equipment while ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical schematics and charging systems for both stationary and mobile equipment. Responsibilities Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate and correct breakdown causes. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with codes. Essential Skills 3-5+ years of experience as an electrician in an industrial setting. Knowledge of troubleshooting, repair, and PLC systems. High voltage experience with 480v systems. Valid CA Driver's License. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based at a metal recycling plant that processes various materials including steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. The facility is expansive, with a combination of open yard spaces and enclosed production areas. The position requires working in various weather conditions and exposure to physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt. Safety gear including safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields are mandatory. The workload can be unpredictable, especially during peak times, requiring adaptability and the ability to manage multiple safety and maintenance issues under pressure. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00/hr.
