CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Engineering Design for Industrial Ventilation Systems

Coordinates for the design and implementation of projects from preliminary engineering, detailed design to construction, successful start-up and acceptance by operating management at the site.

Lead the design, development and implementation of advanced industrial ventilation and dust collection systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Participate in the risk assessments for combustible dust hazards and develop robust mitigations strategies to prevent incidents.

Ensure all designs and systems comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations, including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

Have a knowledge base of Thermal Oxidizers (TO) to decompose hazardous gases at high temperatures, scrubbers to remove particulates and gases from industrial exhaust streams, and Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTOs) to preheat and oxidize input gases using ceramic beds.

Work Closely with cross-functional teams, including project engineers, regional engineers, site engineers and safety personnel to deliver quality system design, cost estimates and site guidance on aging systems.

Knowledge of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for engineered make-up air systems and low-level ventilation.

Ability to design and engineer Dust Collection Systems, Low Level Ventilation, Make-Up Air Units and other manufacturing ventilation systems.

Ability to perform static pressure calculations for dust collection systems, dust hoods, vapor collections and manufacturing vessels.

Ability to size duct collection systems (ductwork, exhaust fans, deflagration systems) based on NFPA Standards, Sherwin-Williams Standards, American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Industrial Ventilation Design standards.

Knowledge in maintaining fluid velocity in ductwork to omit material from fall out of air stream.

Candidate shall be capable of performing regular site inspections and visual audits to verify system performance, identify potential issues, implement corrective actions.

Ability to ensure the Air Balance Testing and Duct Traverse readings at project closeout match the engineering construction documents and design.

Engineering Piping Design Knowledge

Ability to calculate and engineering hydronic piping systems and process piping systems.

Provide fluid flow calculations for raw materials based on density, distance, pressure drop and desired target flow rates.

Engineer shall be able to produce Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (PIDs) for not only ventilation systems but have the ability to create them for process piping systems.

Proficient in Computer Aided Design (CAD) Programs.

Developing designs within select fields of disciplines (Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams {P&ID's}, General Arrangement Layouts and overall Site Layout Drawings, Elevation and Plan views, detailed ventilation and piping designs, isometric schematics, etc.)

Create construction documents with various AutoDESK products including Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Plant 3D, Navisworks and Inventor.

Create Navisworks Models (.NWC, .NWD, .NWF) for design review sessions to walk through detailed progression of process piping with other division disciplines, Site leadership and Operations.

Develop and support detailed bidding documentation for procurement of equipment and vendors.
