SDOTs Capital Projects Division has two great opportunities for detail-oriented and collaborative Transportation Project Managers (Strategic Advisors 1) to work as part of the Capital Projects' Project Management team. These positions will work with our team of dedicated transportation engineering and project delivery professionals to ensure that project elements are implemented and delivered successfully.

In these roles, you will manage some of SDOTs more complex projects directly and support other project managers in delivering a variety of transportation capital projects, including paving, transit, sidewalk, multimodal, bridge, and structural projects.
- Manages full life cycle of assigned portfolio, including scope, schedule, and budget for multiple concurrent and complex SDOT projects.
- Maintains Clarity PPM database to document project budgets, spending, risk elements, and project schedules.
- Coordinates with other SDOT divisions, City agencies, and external stakeholders to proactively solve project issues.
- Regularly engages with and provides reports to SDOT teams and leadership, elected officials, and community members.
- Prepares and helps execute inter-departmental and inter-agency agreements leading to project delivery.
- Assists with the preparation and selection of consultant contracts.
- Supports teammates as needed, to meet commitments related to Capital Projects Division deliverables.
- Supports department goals in promoting diversity and social justice in keeping with the Citys Race and Social Justice Initiative.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or related field.
Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience with infrastructure project management or engineering design.
OR: An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.
Though not requirements, strong candidates will have some of the following experience or are able to describe comparable experience:
- Knowledge of project management principles for transportation capital projects.
- Experience with grant applications and permit applications for capital projects.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel with proficiency in file sharing and project management software such as One Note, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam.
- Effective written communication and oral communication skills, attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and team members.
Other Requirements:
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- Work is typically performed in a hybrid work environment in which a minimum of 3 days of the work is completed in a City office, and 2 days of the work is completed remotely in a regular 40-hour work week.
- Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous construction sites.

The Citys full salary range for this job classification is $50.08 - $75.12 hourly.
