Job Summary:
The Mechanic position utilizes developed skills to implement the assigned activities of the predictive, preventative or planned maintenance programs designed to support the process and utility equipment of the plant. The Mechanic will troubleshoot, repair and/or maintain rotating equipment components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and process vessels. This position is required to troubleshoot, diagnose, propose and implement equipment repair activities that may or may not be included in the planned work. The Mechanic is expected to communicate job status through the use of a maintenance management software system, through verbal communications or through other written communications. The employee is expected to follow all plant safety and operating guidelines as well as all standards of mechanical maintenance practices. The employee in the mechanic position demonstrates the following traits and/or competencies: a strong work ethic, concern for quality and a high attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, written and verbal communication skills and is a supportive team member with a positive attitude.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Adhere to all plant safety and operating guidelines.
  • Perform as a team member while supporting the planned, preventative and/or predictive maintenance activities that support the mechanical components of the plant process and utility equipment.
  • Perform as a team member or independently to trouble-shoot, diagnose, and propose and implement repair solutions for the plant process and utility equipment.
  • Comprehend and implement standard mechanical repair and installation work practices and guidelines.
  • Utilize the functions of the maintenance management system to facilitate job plans and record maintenance activities on plant assets.
  • Communicate job status and support requirements with co-workers and management for effective use of time while completing assigned maintenance tasks.
  • Understands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practices.
Education/ Experience:
  • High School Graduate
  • A (2) year MET degree, technical school and/or military training in industrial maintenance and technologies or equivalent experience in the mechanical trades.
Special Skills:
  • Basic computer skills (internet, e-mail, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of rotating equipment components, shafts and shaft alignment.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic or pneumatic components/systems.
  • Basic knowledge of metal cutting, grinding and welding.
  • Basic knowledge of safe rigging practices
  • Basic knowledge of test, measurement and hand tools utilized in the mechanical repair and maintenance fields.
Certifications and Licenses Required:
  • Must be able to complete the Mechanical Apprenticeship Program within 3 years.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot and cold temperatures and dusty environment.
  • Move/transport materials.
  • Able to access all areas in the plant.
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time and bending, kneeling.
  • Work in confined spaces and work with heights.
  • Able to be respirator qualified
On-The-Job Training Requirements:
  • New colleagues will need to undergo on-the-job training to acquire skills and certifications, which will be assessed according to established standards
  • Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training
  • Participate in company planner operations training
  • Equipment training may include but not limited to JLP, Forklift, Non-DOT Truck, Reach Lift, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc.
ADM requires the successful completion of a background check and medical clearance.
