Summary:
Mack Prototype is seeking a skilled Industrial Painter to support our prototyping and low-volume manufacturing operations. This role is critical in applying high-quality finishes to parts made through machining, 3D printing, urethane casting, and injection molding. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced with a range of paint types and surface prep methods, and thrives in a fast-paced, custom-production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare parts and surfaces for painting (sanding, masking, cleaning, priming, etc.).
- Mix and apply a variety of coatings (e.g., solvent- and water-based paints, primers, and topcoats) using HVLP spray equipment.
- Interpret job travelers, work instructions, and customer specifications to ensure correct color, gloss, texture, and finish.
- Inspect painted parts for quality, consistency, and finish defects; touch up as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to meet prototype and production requirements.
- Track materials, report usage, and maintain accurate job records.
- Maintain and clean paint booths, tools, and work areas in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Suggest improvements in processes, tools, or materials to improve finish quality or efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in industrial, automotive, or manufacturing painting; experience in prototype environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques and spray application methods.
- Ability to work with a variety of substrates, including plastics, metals, and urethanes.
- Familiarity with color matching and finishing standards (e.g., Pantone, RAL, MIL-specs a plus).
- Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finishes in a short-turnaround environment.
- Comfortable working from prints or drawings.
- Able to lift 30-50 lbs and wear appropriate PPE for extended periods
- Preferred experience with finishing parts from 3D printing, injection molding, urethane casting, or CNC machining.
- Preferred familiarity with masking for multi-color or precision painted parts.
- Preferred knowledge of paint curing processes (air dry, bake, UV).

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
