POSITION: SURVEY TECHNICIAN
The Survey Technician is responsible for keeping detailed documentation of installation processes and testing to comply with strict company and project specifications. To excel in his/her role, you will establish an organized and timely process of accurately documenting material usage, soil testing location, as-built placement of material and calculated area of material placed.
Job Focus:
- Follow all safety procedures on the job site, report violations immediately to management, and maintain Safety as your priority.
- The proper PPE must be worn at all times while working on equipment and on the job site. Enforce safety compliance to all coworkers.
- Submit a minimum of two Safety Observations per month using the provided QR Code.
- Observe and accurately document the installation process for each job assigned, in accordance with company and project specifications.
- Set-Up GPS Base/Rover at beginning of project and localize on provided Control Points
- Maintain and calibrate equipment on a daily basis
- Operate GPS Base/Rover systems to stake cut/fill limits, centerlines, grades, and other civil features
- Record precise elevations, northing and easting at the job locations using GPS surveying equipment. Accurately input the collected data into the surveying unit.
- Prepare "as built" drawings for subgrade, density shot locations, pipe layout, protective cover, or any other work as requested by the Superintendent
- Verify conformance of grades and slopes to design drawings using grade rods, laser levels, and GPS rovers.
- Receive design files from QC Department and upload them into Data Collector Systems to check grade
- Create Machine Control files for heavy equipment using data collector software
- Communicate survey-related discrepancies or issues to field supervisors promptly.
- Deliver accurate and consistent results and exceed customer's expectations by meeting or beating deadlines set by the customer
- Keep your work areas and equipment clean, neat, and well organized after each task.
- Responsible for safeguarding and regular maintenance of the GPS surveying and equipment. Report any issues with QC equipment to management.
- Travel is Required
Requirements and skills
- Working knowledge of GPS
- Tech savvy, including familiarity with CAD software
- Aptitude in math and problem-solving
- Attention to detail
- Great organizational and leadership skills
