RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct construction layout surveys for construction/roadway projects.
- Perform staking and layout for road alignments, grading, drainage systems, curbs, and utilities.
- Interpret construction plans, blueprints, and engineering drawings to guide fieldwork.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as GPS, total stations, levels, and data collectors.
- Maintain detailed field notes and electronic data files in accordance with project standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and inspectors to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
- Verify existing site conditions and provide feedback to project managers on potential conflicts or design issues.
- Monitor and report project progress to ensure survey work aligns with construction timelines.
- Perform all other relevant duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Must be a self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities who is motivated to set and achieve goals and takes initiative within the workplace. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, but a positive attitude is a must! Specific requirements include:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in construction, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 1+ years of experience in construction surveying, preferably on roadway or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Proficiency in using modern surveying instruments GPS, total stations, data collectors, and related software.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other design software is a plus.
- Knowledge of DOT standards and roadway construction practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
