Engineering Technician III (Hourly Rate)
Position:
Engineering Project Records Technician
Summary:
The primary function of this Engineering Technician position is to compile, review, and assemble engineering, material, test, and construction records for natural gas pipeline facilities, in accordance with PHMSA requirements. These records may include pressure test records, nondestructive evaluation records (NDE), material test records (MTRs), and MAOP documents.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with our Project Managers, Project Engineers, Construction, and Document Controls, this Engineering Technician must be a self-starter able to operate with minimal oversight. Responsibilities include:
Researching electronic project files
Reviewing record accuracy
Performing gap analyses and identifying missing information
Preparing documents and compiling required project records in compliance with our company and PHMSA project record requirements
Knowledge:
Understanding of pipeline construction, material, and project records
Familiarity with DOT 49CFR192, ASME B31.3, and ASME B31.8
Skills:
Ability to work independently and remotely with electronic files
Strong communication skills via email and web meeting tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams)
Experience:
Field experience (Operations or Construction) and/or knowledge of pipeline and facility construction and associated records
Associate's degree preferred
Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience
Duration:
Estimated 6 months
Comments:
This team supports tactical projects for us.
These are smaller, non-growth projects focused on maintaining system operations and gas flow.
Projects often take months for planning and material procurement, but only a few days for construction.
The role involves helping to close out projects by:
Reviewing Aconex requirements
Compiling records and finalizing project documentation
Aconex experience is not required-training will be provided.
Ability to perform calculations in spreadsheets is necessary.
Must be able to review records and determine completeness.
Hands-on pipeline experience in an engineering tech role is valuable.
Candidates with a background starting in the field and transitioning into an engineering technician role are well-suited.
Experience in fabrication shops and pipeline operations is a plus.
