un Shop and Construction Laborer (Branson) compensation: Based on experience employment type: experience level: entry level job title: Fab Shop and Construction Labor. We are a fab shop located in the Branson area. We work mostly with metal and a little with wood. We also perform work in the field. Sometimes large construction projects or simply installations of work built in the shop. Our work varies significantly. We are a small family operated shop. We are open to entry level applicants as well as experienced. We are not looking for people to weld. We need people to fabricate parts and perform other tasks to keep the welder welding. If you have some welding experience, great, however it is not a requisite. We are looking for people who -Have work ethics like our own. We are older and if you can't keep up- this isn't the place to be. -Strong Mechanical Aptitude -The ability to quickly absorb and retain instruction. This extends to understanding simple shop drawings, being given a list to accomplish, as well as understanding and retaining knowledge when you are taught. We will teach, but are only interested in investing that time and knowledge into people who appreciate and will absorb it. Often you will be given rapid and clear instruction. Our candidate can absorb that instruction the first time, or know to ask for clarification than move on with the project with out being baby sat. Literacy is important. I don't expect our candidate to be a Rhodes Scholar, but the ability to write, take notes and read effectively are important. -understands that our customers place obligations on us, and that you are there to help us satisfy those obligation in an expeditious manner. We are not interested in people who take twice as long to do something as we do. -Ingrained sense of organization. This extends to your work as well as the upkeep of our shop. We have a lot equipment and tooling that needs to be put back where it belongs. The shops upkeep will be a responsibility of the person we hire as well as the equipment for onsite work. -Valid Drivers license and the ability to transport yourself where we need you to be. -Punctuality and reliability. Be where you are supposed to be when we need you there. We are very flexible and if there isn't much going on, we are happy to give you time off or to give you time off when you need it provided we know ahead of time. Our priority is to accomplish the work at hand. As a small business, we place a great deal of trust in the people that work for us. -Grit. Sometimes our work is constant and hot and uncomfortable. When onsite the work can be hard. If you can't keep up with an old man this probably isn't the place for you. We will carry heavy stuff. Climb around and work at heights sometime. Yes, our candidate should be in good physical shape. -People who are safety orientated. We will provide and instruct in the use of proper PPE and tool usage. If we tell you to wear eye protection, gloves, or a harness, we expect compliance without argument. Our candidate will understand that we are trying to keep people safe and are not interested in paying your bills for 50 years because you didn't want wear the right PPE and protect yourself. We are not looking for - People who bring their drama to work. We aren't interested and we have more important things to worry about. We don't care about your baby mama drama or anything else. -Addicted to your phone. We do have a no phone policy but will be flexible if it is an occasional thing. We always try to be reasonable. This follows to any other distractions. We need people to be focused on what we are trying to accomplish. -People who want to argue. We will ask for input at times, the rest of the time we just need our instructions followed. -People who are thin-skinned and easily offended. We were raised to leave our feelings in the truck covered in band-aids and we expect the same from everyone here. If you need to feel re-affirmed everyday with a hug or that we need to acknowledge how you feel- Kinder Care is probably a better place than our steel shop. -We DO NOT TOLERATE alcohol or drugs at work. Do what you want in your free time, but not here. "I got drunk last night and I'm not feeling good" is not an acceptable excuse. Showing up to work SMELLING of alcohol or being under the influence will not be tolerated. -Have poor hygiene and clothing habits. This includes proper attire for the work to be performed. Your appearance to our customers is a reflection upon us. Work clothes are work clothes. We don't want to spend the day looking at some dudes underwear. There's no reason your clothes and your body can't be clean at the start of the day. Obviously, we have had plenty of experience with what we don't want, however we have a great environment. We try to have fun at work in a relaxed environment. Our candidate will be learning everyday. We will never expect our employees to do something that we will or have not done ourselves.
