Welder/Fitter

Express Employment is working on behalf of a locally owned welding facility here in Allentown. Our client is looking for Welder/Fitters to start ASAP for temporary to permanent position. DUTIES: Analyze blueprints and structural drawings to layout the framework of a structure. Secure and fasten structural components using clamps, braces, jacks, and bolt straps. Carry out post-welding treatment of structures by cleaning, buffing, and polishing finished workpieces. Inspect and evaluate welds to ensure they are free of defect and conform to set specifications. Employ appropriate welding methods in completing structural fabrications. Operate cranes/forklifts to convey metal components and work materials to work area. Utilize manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions. Apply welding procedures such as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) Fit ad weld metal components for structural steel. Set equipment to weld in vertical, horizontal, flat or overhead positions. Requirements: Education/training: High school diploma or equivalent. Must pass welding competency tests. 2 years or more welding experience and certifications in specialized welding processes. To qualify for a structural welder job or be considered in an apprentice position, you will be required to take an assessment test.
